If your garage door is broken, there’s a good chance a faulty spring is to blame.
One of the most important components in a garage door assembly system are the springs.
Proudly Serving Northwest Indiana since 2000! Repair of broken garage door springs usually involves complete replacement of both springs because the springs are likely on the same life cycle life. Types of Garage Door Springs
There are two main spring systems — torsion springs and extension springs.
- Torsion springs are large springs mounted to a metal rod that runs parallel to the door. These springs require the use of cables and pulleys and are tensioned and they twist and coil whenever force is applied. Standard torsion springs generally have a 10,000-cycle lifespan.
- Extension springs are lighter springs that run perpendicular to the door and are mounted above the door tracks. Like torsion springs, extension springs also require cables and pulleys, as well as safety cables. These springs typically last between 5,000 and 10,000 cycles.

What our customers are saying
“Buck, both my sons-in-law say there is no way I needed new springs. the springs are not exposed to the elements and would not rust as Sean claimed. The springs were not broken. Also I do not believe I should have to pay a Service Charge for the second trip. Sean said you usually have the seals in stock so It is not my fault that you have to make a second trip to install a new seal.”
