Garage Door Tracks
Garage Door Track Repair and Replacement
One of the most important functions of your garage door tracks is keeping the door properly aligned. If the tracks are broken or warped, the door may not open or close properly, get stuck, and become a safety hazard.
Properly maintaining garage door tracks can keep them working smoothly for a long time. But, like all components, they will eventually need to be replaced.
If you suspect that something is wrong with your garage door track, Precision can help!
Is Your Door on the Right Track?
When garage door tracks get damaged, it’s usually because there’s something wrong with another part of the system. Tracks will rarely bend or break by themselves.
A few examples of other issues that could damage the track include:
- A broken cable that doesn’t evenly support the weight of your door, causing lopsided operation and excess strain on one side of the track
- A broken or failing spring that causes other components to work harder and wear down faster
- Loose brackets that can’t hold the track in place (you may also notice shaking as you operate the door)
- A garage door opener that isn’t a great fit for your door’s weight, or opens it unevenly
Environmental factors like salt, dust, moisture, cold weather, and more also play a role in the longevity of your garage door tracks.
How to Tell When Your Garage Door Track is Damaged
One of the most common signs that the tracks need attention is when the door starts jerking or halting while in use. You may also see a gap between the tracks and rollers, or experience slower operation or strange noises that weren’t there before.
Failing tracks can harm the other components if left ignored. If you suspect there’s something wrong with your garage door parts, it’s best to call Precision right away to prevent any further damage.
